Celebrities And Their Battle With Depression
There are so many famous people out there who have battled depression. And it’s not just because they’ve suffered from depression—they’ve also used their fame to spread awareness about the disease, and that’s something every sufferer can relate to.
This mental health week , lets take a look at some celebrities who have addressed depression and how they overcame it.
1.Deepika Padukone
Her fight with depression is an ordeal towards ending stigma against depression. She has been those path breakers who turned her fight with depression into an opportunity to remove the stigma attached to it.
How she dealt it : counselling and speaking out the mind is what made her deal depression.
2.Demi Lovato:
“it is possible to see the light when you start the work on yourself.”
In 2020,Demi Lovato opened up about her mental illness.
She has been vocal about suffering from suicidal ideation and her other psychological struggles to let others know they’re not alone and that there is a way out.
Lovato addresses her psychological distress to her late birth father, whose mental illness prevented him from raising a family.
How she dealt it : Lovato had series of hospital visits and medications in her earlier days. She states, she has learnt to accept the fact of her past that has helped her deal depression in better way.
3.Shaheen Bhatt:
Bollywood’s diva Alia’s sister in an interview opened up on how she has been living with depression since her teens.
One minute everything’s fine and the next it’s like someone turned the light off inside my head. I go quiet and it’s difficult to get out of bed
In her 2019 released book “ I have never been (un) happier she spoke about her life and her struggles with depression and how she deals with it on a daily basis.
4.J k Rowling
The Harry Potter famous author J k Rowling spoke about her mental health struggle more than just a sadness.
“Sadness is to cry and feel, but it is that cold absence of feeling,”
Writing novels helped her to cope with her depression, channeling some of her feelings about the illness to create the Dementors in her books.
5.Dwayne Johnson
Depression doesn’t discriminate. Struggle and pain is real. If I could share a little bit of it and if I could help somebody, I’m happy to do it.”
In early 2018 Dwayne opened up about his and family history on mental illness and dealing with depression and beyond.
