Yada yada hi dharmasya glanirbhavati bharata | Abhythanam adharmasya tadatmanam srijamyaham ||
Bhagavad Gita is one of the most revered texts gifted to the world. It is a part of the Mahabharata, and is spoken by his supremacy Lord Krishna to Prince Arjuna before the great war of Kurukshetra.
The Gita contains 700 verses, and is divided into 18 chapters. It is a book that cuts across the religion barrier.
The Bhagavad Gita is considered to be a guide to living a meaningful and purposeful life. It is a text that can be read and re-read, and each time, something new can be gleaned from it. In fact, many believe that the Gita is not just a book, but a living entity that speaks to us, and provides us with guidance.
In this blog post, we will explore some of the key teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, and how we can implement them in our daily lives.
1.One must do their “Karma”{work] without worrying about results
” Karam kar phal ki iccha mat kar”
Karmanye vadhikarasye Ma phaleshu kadachana
Our present life is a reflection of our past deeds. we often end up thinking of outcome of a task or work we do. Lord Krishna says
“work with 100% devotion and do not worry of the outcome. And remember results happen over time. So work hard and stay consistent”
2.You are born empty handed; you leave empty handed
“you came empty handed. You leave empty handed. What is yours today shall belong to someone else tomorrow. So do not think too much”
You as an individual are born on this earth without any materialistic things. Whatever you take from this earth has to be left here. So never have the greed of what you possess because you carry nothing along with you and you own nothing.
3.Lust, Anger and Greed leads to self destruction
These are the three destructive pillars of mankind . Anger takes your relations away, greed makes one restless and lust takes you away from your goal. Besides, it takes away your inner peace.
4.Do not run away from your responsibilities
The greatest reward in life usually comes with greatest obstacles. Success comes to those who take responsibility of their failures. “Be the Arjun of your life and take responsibility of your life”.
5.Man is made of his beliefs; You become what you believe
“You” are a reflection of what you believe you are”. Your habits, your relations, your possessions, money etc are the results of your own beliefs . your negative thoughts frame a negative life, while if you think positive you reap positive results.
“Do not doubt. If you believe you can, you will”
6.Change is the law of nature.
“Parivartan sansaar ka neeyam hai “
Nothing is permanent in this world- your wealth, your pride , your power . Anything and everything that is created on this earth either perishes or undergoes a change.
Today a king might turn a servant tomorrow. Accept the change and be the change .
7.Your mind is your friend as well your enemy
“The mind acts like enemy to those who do not know to control it”
Your thoughts can either make you or break you. Use your intellect to bring it to the equanimous position.
8.Whatever happens or is to happen is for your good
“Whatever happened was good, what’s happening is good and whatever will happen, will also be good”
We often feel sad of what had happened, worry about future and forget to live in the present.
You cannot control the past nor can you control the future. You only have the present so learn to live it up to the fullest.
9.When you master meditation, your mind illuminates like flame of the lamp
Many feel meditation boring or not so worth. The one who learns to sit with eyes closed and without vile of thoughts has learnt to conquer his mind.
10.Like mind, A man is his own friend and his own foe
“You” are your own friend. You are the solution to your problems. All you need to do is Seek within.
Bhagavad-gita is manual given by his Supremacy Lord Krishna which guides us in making the best use of this human life and to derive real happiness from it. In the modern times when people are more confused and misdirected, the Gita become all the more relevant for the individual as well as the society at large in bringing back the stability in life.
Hare Krishna !
