Things to Remember While Travelling in Indian Railway Trains

With COVID decreasing its rate and the world going back to normal, it’s time to go back to travelling as it used to be. If you’re travelling by the Indian Railways soon, here are a few things to keep in mind!

  1. Take your own blankets and sheets! Even though many trains have now started to provide sheets and blankets, many still don’t- having stopped it during COVID times. If not blankets, you are advised to at least keep a shawl or sweater so you can sleep comfortably during the night.
  2. Pre-order your food- You now have the option to pre-order your food, which will be delivered to you at the station of your choice, at which the train will take stop! Food, if ordered on time, is delivered inside the train by outside vendors till late hours of the night.
  3. Explore- Some trains travel thru natural exquisite routes. Get down on beautiful stations and enjoy the scenery.
  4. Carry headphones with noise cancellation- If you, god forbid, encounter noisy neighbours, you will need these a lot. Download a nice playlist of music that you can enjoy. Consider downloading audiobooks, or podcasts, or meditations for yourself.
  5. Carry a small bag of toiletries- Sanitation is a priority. Carry with you some wet wipes, a disposable soap bar, a toothbrush, seat cleaners etc, to keep yourself comfortable.
