FIFA World Cup 2022: Qatar Kick Off This Years’ World Cup With A Spectacular Opening Ceremony Leaving Football Fans Thrilled

The wait is over! The most anticipated event for all the football lovers has began, this time in Qatar.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 has marked its journey to crown the best football player among the whole world. Despite many controversies associated with Qatar being the host, the Arabian-nights themed opening ceremony has been trending on twitter, many netizens calling it the best of all the seasons.

“It will be the best World Cup”, said Giovanni Infantino, FIFA President in a rambling press conference on the eve of the World Cup.

The opening spectacle of lights, fireworks and mysticism transported the 60000 plus audience at the Al Bayt Stadium, a facility designed to resemble the traditional Bedouin tent into a surreal world like that of Arabian nights.

The 30 minute show featured a seven-act narration guided by a visual concept – a bespoke musical project and world class talents, interacting Qatari tradition with worldwide culture, performance of al-Ardha (a traditional sword dance), and the display of La’eeb – the mascot of the World Cup 2022 which rose into the sky, the name which means super-skilled player.

The highlight of the ceremony were the performances of Hollywood star Morgan Freeman and K-Pop sensation Jung-Kook of BTS.

“What unites us here is so much greater than what divides us. How can we make it last longer?”, said Freeman in his speech which was a message of hope, unity and tolerance. He shared the stage with Qatari youth icon Ghanim Al Muftah, an ambassador of FIFA World Cup, who recited a few verses from Quran to share the message of diversity and acceptance.

The stadium was set to the mood of World Cup when Jung Kook performed his official World Cup song “Dreamers” with Fahad Al Kubaisi, a popular Qatari singer whom he has collaborated with for the song.

“Look who we are, we are the dreamers, we make it happen, cause we believe it”, the stadium sang along with him while he danced and swayed with the background dancer. The song has already broke records, adding it to the list of all time favourite World Cup songs like Waka Waka and Wavin Flag.
