1.Potato shots
Well, who doesn’t like potatoes! This is one vegetable that’s available all time at your home. There are so many varieties potato can be molded to and today we are going to share the yummy crispy potato shots.
Preparation:
– pick medium sized potatoes and dip it in cold water
-once taken out from cold water pat it well and dip in warm water( this makes potatoes get the crunch)
-now in a pan add adequate oil and fry.
-serve with the dip of your choice
2.Bagels
If you are a fan of baking, then this recipe is for you! These yummy round bagels has been staple food for many round the world with the most popular combination being bagel with cream cheese. And this can be done with just 2 simple ingredients- Self rinsing flour and plain yoghurt
Preparation
-pre heat oven to 180 degrees.
-in a bowl combine self -rinsing flour and yoghurt until the dough sets ( it will be crumbly)
-now roll the dough like rope and pinch ends to form a circle
– sprinkle your favorite seasoning and bake for 15-20 min
Well , if you prefer eggs, you can brush the bagels with egg and then place to baking
3.Pazham Pori ( Kerala banana fritters )
A crispy coated fried bananas, this is quite a popular snack from Kerala. It is a very quick and easy to do recipe that can be a companion with your hot tea.
What do you need : ripe bananas, 1 cup maida, sugar , baking soda ( can be substituted with Eno), salt, turmeric ,3/4th water
Preparation:
-in a bowl add maida, sugar, salt and baking soda. Add water and adjust it as you mix. Make sure the consistency is a little more than dosa batter.
-add turmeric( its optional)
-if you love bit spices you may go ahead adding jeera
-cut the banana and slice them half mid way and dunk them into the batter
-in a pan add adequate oil , heat it. Most preferably coconut oil , if you love to have the authentic taste.
-fry until golden brown. Serve with tea or eat just like that.
4.10 min garlic cheese bread
A quick appetizer recipe with bread, cheese and chili flake. A must try and a go to serving in any small get together. Here we have used baguettes . you can try with normal bread slices too
Preparation:
– pre heat oven to 180 degrees
– slice the baguettes to a little thick pieces
-in a small bowl, mix finely chopped garlic, butter along with salt.( well if you are using salted butter avoid adding salt) .
– grate cheese on top and garnish with chili flakes. We have used cheddar cheese here .you can also use mozzarella. You can be liberal with the quantity of cheese you add .
– place it in the pre heated oven and bake for about 6 minutes.
And we are done. Your spicy, cheesy garlic bread is ready !
5.Bread paneer rolls
The most popular bread recipes to savour in the evenings is the bread paneer rolls. All you need is white bread (4 slices ) , 1/4th tsp jeera powder , 1/2 spoon garam masala, ginger garlic paste , chili powder , chopped onions, corianders, tomato sauce / ketchup and butter and salt for taste.
Well again if you are using salted butter, avoid adding salt
Preparation :
– in a bowl crumple the paneer. Add red chili powder, garam masala, chopped onions and jeera powder and gently mix with your finger tips.
-add tomato sauce and ginger garlic paste. Blend well and leave it aside to rest
-remove the crusts of your bread and roll out as thin as you can
-now place the filling in the center and gently roll from one side
-in a pan add butter and toast
– serve with tomato sauce .
