2008 cult film Dostana starring Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham turned 14 on Monday.
Produced by Dharma productions, under Karan Johar flagship, Dostana gained a commercial success and was one of the highest grossing films of the year.
The movie was helmed by Tarun Mansukhani, also featured Kirron Kher and Bobby Deol in prominent roles.
In the celebratory mode, Dharma productions Instagram handle shared a video with “Jaane kyu” in the background and captioned-
“To a #Dostana that gave you a rocking time on this day, 14 years ago! #14yearsofDostana.”
Coming to the Dostana Triva, here are a few that we are sharing with you today
- Abhishek’s character in Dostana won him his second Filmfare nomination, first being Bunty aur Bubli.
- Did you know Priyanka was not the first choice for the film. While makers wanted Aishwarya to essay the role of Neha and she rejected the offer made Priyanka get on board.
- Remember John Abraham’s chisel body that made us all woo. Well John’s portrayal as Sam was much appreciated by audience, but like Priyanka, John wasn’t the first choice for the film either. Rather they approached Saif Ali Khan for that role.
- When the makers announced Dostana 2, Abhishek Bachchan was re-approached to which he politely declined as he didn’t want to end making a franchise.
- Back in 2019, Karan Johar announced of taking Janhvi Kapoor and Karthik Aryan for Dostana sequel which didn’t take off owing to differences between Karthik and Karan Johar.

On work front, Priyanka Chopra will be seen in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee le zara alongside Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
Abhishek, on the other hand, was recently seen the thriller series ‘Breathe: Into the shadows season 2’ which was premiered on Amazon Prime.
John will be next seen in director Siddharth Anand’s action thriller ‘Pathaan’ alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
